    2014 Year End Wrap-Up

Photo from: holidaywishes.net 2014 is almost over! I always like to do a wrap-up of the year, just to remember and see what my trends were. And 2014 was certainly an important year. In fact, it has been the most significant year of my life, all things told. I… – Found out I was pregnant in January– Bought my first house in February– Had to put down my beloved cat of almost 17 years in March– Had my first short story published in June– Lost an uncle in August – Had my second short story published in September– Had my first baby in September! Plus, all the little extras that…

    Celebrate the Small Things

Hosted by Viklit, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life! This week, I’m celebrating: My copy of Hauntings arrived! It’s a lot of fun to actually hold the book in my hands, and see all the pretty formatting and the fact that my name is right there in print! Needless to say, I hope I have many more opportunities to experience this in the future =3 (and for my writing friends, I hope you all do, too!) Writing. Doing well with my word count for my latest WIP…should have some time to write this evening, and only have 800 words to…

    Celebrate the Small Things

Hosted by Viklit, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life! This week, I’m celebrating: My first short story was published in an anthology this week! Hauntings launched yesterday, and I’m so excited to get my copy in the mail (it’s coming from the UK to Canada, so it might take a while, unfortunately!) Enjoying my week off. I had a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday that took 3 hours (2 hours and 55 minutes of which was waiting o_o) so we didn’t end up seeing the play we’d bought tickets to. A shame to have wasted the money, but we went out…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished A Death-Struck Year by Makiia Lucier. I don’t read much historical fiction, but this has got me in the mood to try something else in the genre! It happened by accident, but this ended up being the perfect thing for me to read after listening to Call the Midwife. They’re very different stories (different setting, different time period, different circumstances, not to mention that the one is a set of memoirs directed to an adult audience, while the…

    Hauntings Cover and Launch

I’m so excited that my first published short story, appearing in the upcoming Hauntings anthology by Hic Dragones, is launching at the end of the month! We now have a cover, which is lovely, and there is information for the launch party as well. I can’t attend the launch myself, since it’s in the UK and, as much as I want to, I can’t get over there just now!! But I thought I’d post the information here, in case there is anyone who happens to live in the Manchester area…the launch event is free! From the Hic Dragones website: Hauntings – Launch Party 31st July Thursday, 31st July 2014 from…

H is for Hauntings – Hic Dragones

H is for Hauntings, and Hic Dragones! Following my post yesterday, today I’m doing a super quick post to highlight the wonderful press that will be publishing the Hauntings anthology. It’s Hic Dragones press, and here’s what they say about themselves:  Hic Dragones is a creative writing and literature organization, based in Manchester UK and formed in 2010. Our ethos is intelligent, but a bit weird. We run training, education and development events in the UK, with a focus on monsters, horror, dark fiction and the strange. Hic Dragones also publishes dark fiction and markets a range of Murder Mystery Games. Intelligent, but a bit weird. That’s what really drew me in!…

    G is for Ghosts

G is for Ghosts! So, I actually did my last year’s G A to Z post on Ghosts, and I’m doing another one this year! I’ve mentioned briefly (and will mention again tomorrow =3) that I’ve had a short story accepted into an anthology called Hauntings. And, I’m excited to say I’ve actually had another short story accepted into a different anthology, although I can’t really talk about it yet. However, what I can say is that, turns out, both of these two stories have something to do with ghosts! Okay, the first anthology isn’t much of a stretch, but the other anthology doesn’t automatically bring ghosts to mind. And…

    Celebrate the Small Things

Hosted by Viklit, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life! My celebrations for this week are: On Sunday, I finally got to see Catching Fire at the cinema…it was fantastic! I kind of keep forgetting how much I love this series. Because it’s so big and is featured all over the place, I have an instinct to shy away from it, but the movie definitely pulled me back in again! On Wednesday, I went with my husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law to the city to see a production of Les Mis. It was wonderful, and the lead role was played by a…
