    Celebrate the Small Things

Hosted by Viklit, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life! This week, I’m celebrating: I’m back! After my baby break, I’m slowly working back into blogging and general socialness…not sure I’ll be able to make a post every week, but I’m going to try! While I was on break, my second short story came out in the Amok! anthology by April Moon Books! It’s exciting to say I’ve now got two published stories…and it’s a lot of fun seeing the collections on my shelves, =) This weekend is Thanksgiving. Going to my parents, and will be making first introductions of Finn…

    Introducing…

Hello Everyone! I’m still more or less on a break from blogging for the moment, but since it’s been a few weeks since my last post, I thought I should give you a quick update! As I mentioned last time, I was induced on Thursday, September 18th, and I ended up giving birth in the early hours of Friday, September 19th! Our baby boy was 6 pounds, 0 ounces, and had a little trouble breathing at first, so he had to go into special care. A stressful six days followed in which we kept almost being discharged (once the doctor even told us we could go home, and then came…

    Baby Break!

Hello everyone! So, if you follow my posts you probably already know that I’m having a baby soon, and that the “soon” has been bumped up due to some concerns about the baby’s size. Well, yesterday we found out that “soon” actually means tomorrow! I’m going in to be induced hopefully tomorrow morning, and (again hopefully) I will have a baby by the time Thursday is complete! So, I’m going to be absent from blogging for a bit. I’ll do an update here as soon as I am able, but since I’m a first timer, I have no idea what to expect, so I’m not making any definitive plans! Thanks…

    Gearing Up for Fall

Okay, so I’m not likely going to have much time to enjoy the relaxing nature of Autumn this year. But since I’ll have a very good reason for a rather hectic schedule, =D, I don’t mind. However, I have definitely been in fall overdrive for the last few weeks, even though fall won’t actually hit for a few weeks more. I think I’m trying to squeeze in as much of the cozy atmosphere as I can before I’m too busy to notice it! And so I thought I would share what I’m most enjoying/looking forward to this upcoming fall (baby-ness excluded, because that’s a given!) Photo From: http://www.oklibrary.org/ The leaves…

    Celebrate the Small Things

Hosted by Viklit, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life! This week, I’m celebrating: I mentioned in my last post that my doctor has taken me off work for the remainder of my pregnancy. It would have been nice not to have any kinds of complications, but in a situation like this, you’ve got to look at the bright side of having some extra time off to get things done around the house and get in some last minute relaxation! I’m also working on my manuscript, pulling the final bits of it together. I’m thinking I have somewhere around two or…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished reading Wicked Girls by Stephanie Hemphill, and really enjoyed it right to the end! It was a fascinating imagining of what these characters (all based on real people involved in the trials) were thinking during the year of the accusations and witch trials/hangings. Although I have to say after reading this and learning a bit more about the actual Salem Witch Trials, watching Hocus Pocus this year might be a little strange, =P WHAT I’M WRITING I’m getting…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to? WHAT I’M READING Finished my latest Sherlock collection, and have started reading A Death-Struck Year by Makiia Lucier. This was kind of a random choice for me, and while I can’t speak to the accuracy of the historical events, I will say that so far I’m really enjoying it. The writing is quite nice, and I think the feelings of confusion and confused-fear the characters are going through are quite genuine. WHAT I’M WRITINGMy new inspiration has still been blossoming, so…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to? WHAT I’M READING …Same things as last week…although I did finish listening to Call the Midwife, and I have added a few new books to my list (just what I needed!) WHAT I’M WRITINGWorking on my WIP, and just got hit with inspiration for a new story that really excites me. However, with edits already underway for this other project, and, you know, a baby coming in a few months, I am going to try really hard to hold off starting…

    Hauntings Cover and Launch

I’m so excited that my first published short story, appearing in the upcoming Hauntings anthology by Hic Dragones, is launching at the end of the month! We now have a cover, which is lovely, and there is information for the launch party as well. I can’t attend the launch myself, since it’s in the UK and, as much as I want to, I can’t get over there just now!! But I thought I’d post the information here, in case there is anyone who happens to live in the Manchester area…the launch event is free! From the Hic Dragones website: Hauntings – Launch Party 31st July Thursday, 31st July 2014 from…

A Day in the Life of a Librarian

Last week I worked a Saturday shift at the library, which is actually very unusual for my schedule, though not at all unusual for many librarians. Because of this, I decided to do A Day in the Life post about the day! The day started at 9:30, when the library opened. As usual, there were patrons waiting at the door for us to let them in, which another librarian did while I printed off the holds list. This is exactly what it sounds like…a list of the items patrons have placed on hold, which are currently available at our location. We run this list twice a day, once in the…
