The Once and Future Challenge – 1/4 Update!

I can’t believe I’m already a quarter of the way through my year-long reading of Le Morte D’Arthur. But, since it’s been three months already, I thought I’d do a quick update on how it’s going! Things I’m enjoying so far: It’s great to know I’m around a quarter of the way through the book already. I’m a little behind schedule (about 20-25 pages), but technically it should take me a little less than a year to finish the whole book, so being a bit behind is okay. The unexpected adventures – Okay, let me level with you. Despite this story being full of battles and magic, it’s not the…

Cover Reveal: Getting the Brush Off

It’s been a busy few months! Over the holidays we moved to a new house. We’ve almost got ourselves completely settled, which is good, because as of last week I officially became a mother for the second time. I now have two little boys in my household, which means things are busier than ever! And it’s been a busy time writing-wise, too. I’ve started working on a new story (though it’ll probably be slow-going for a while now, which is wonderfully okay), am in the querying stage for another one, and – the awesome purpose of this post – I finally get to reveal the cover of my upcoming Orca…

    June Reads & Listens

June was a better month than May was for reading. It was definitely an unexpected month, though…I didn’t finish the book I thought I’d have done in the first week of June, but I started and finished several reads/listens I wasn’t even planning to begin! What I’ve Read Nine Doors – Vicki Grant I honestly don’t know why I started reading this. I think the cover drew me, and I knew it’d be a quick read so I decided to give it ago. It’s a story about kids who take a game too far and wind up in more trouble than they expected. The ending was a surprise, but the…

    April Reads & Listens

April was a light month for reading. After my first physical read of the month, I struggled with what to read next, starting multiple books before finally settling on George R. R. Martin’s A Clash of Kings (which will probably take me a few months to get through…so my reads are going to be light for a while!). Some unexpected listens this month, though. What I’ve Read Persuasion – Jane Austen This isn’t intentional, but for the last few years I’ve more or less read one Jane Austen novel a year, usually in the late winter/early spring. I still haven’t read everything by Austen…I have Mansfield Park left to go,…

    March Reads & Listens

At one time, I used to keep track of everything I read or listened to. It was fun to compare months and years, to see what my reading trends were, and see how many reads I averaged. It was also a great way to remind myself of authors I’d enjoyed or series I’d started. However, it also started stressing me out…if I saw my book count was low for a particular month, I’d feel bad and rush to read something, even if I didn’t feel like reading a particular book or reading at a fast pace. It made reading more chore-like, which is awful. So I stopped keeping track, which…
