    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING Reading has been fairly slow lately. I’m still reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and I’ve also started Briar Rose by Jane Yolen. But I’ve been more focused on writing these last couple of weeks, so I’m only getting a few pages read each day. It all comes in cycles, though, so I don’t mind. I’ve been editing, and reading my own material more than anything else! WHAT I’M WRITING + WRITING GOAL I finished my additions, and have…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I put Psycho aside…there’s nothing wrong with the book, but it kind of reads like a less, um…lovely(?) version of the film. The plot is essentially the same, but the character of Norman is not nearly so interesting as the movie’s version. For me, this is one of those rare cases where I think the movie is definitely better than the book! But, with that said, I’ll pick it up again sometime, see if it suits me better then.To replace…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished Meg Rosoff’s Just In Case. It was good…didn’t always enjoy the main character, but I don’t think I was supposed to, so it works for the story. There’s a blurb on the front cover of this book calling it a modern Catcher in the Rye. It’s quite a different story, but I think the comparison is actually a good one.I guess I’m starting a bit of a horror set now. I started Robert Bloch’s Psycho (yes, the one…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished To Kill A Mockingbird. I think I would sum up this story as lovely. It covers serious subjects, and has several dark scenes, but there is such sweetness to it, and already as I think back on it, I just want to give a happy sigh. Just…lovely.I’ve now started Meg Rosoff’s Just In Case. Rosoff writes some odd stories, but I just love her writing, and this is the only novel of hers I haven’t read yet. WHAT…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I’m quite enjoying To Kill A Mockingbird. I suppose it’s no surprise that this classic is good, =)  I do have to say, however, that if I had been assigned this in school, I probably wouldn’t be liking it. This is the type of book that, for me, had to be approached on my own. WHAT I’M WRITING + WRITING GOALI finished reading through my WIP, so now I’m letting it sit for a bit. In the meantime, I’m working…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished reading my selection for Freedom to Read Week, which is the week of Feb. 22-28. I’ll do a post about it during that week! I’ve completed The Storyteller, and now I’ve started To Kill A Mockingbird. Nope, I’ve never read it before! I was supposed to read it in grade 9, but I switched schools halfway through the year, and school A read it semester 2, and school B read it in semester 1. But like many others,…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished His Last Bow. I now only have one Sherlock collection left to read…it’s on my shelf already, but I’m trying really hard not to start it for a while. I don’t know what I’ll do when I finish it, I love these stories so much! I’ve slowed on The Storyteller, which is fine. The beauty of short stories is that you can pause between chapters with no problem. I’ve also started reading my book for Freedom to Read…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING Same as last week, The Storyteller and His Last Bow. Enjoying both! WHAT I’M WRITING + WRITING GOALI’m almost finished the first draft of this WIP! It’s still short for a YA novel, but I had a great week of writing and I have at least managed to get it up to “novel” length. Hopefully when I edit, I’ll still be able to add some more. Writing goal for this week is to finish the first draft! WHAT WORKS FOR…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I’ve more or less put Midwinterblood aside. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s just not grabbing me, and since I’ve had such great reading lately, I didn’t feel like struggling through this one. I’ll leave it for some other time, when I’m in some other mood, and hopefully it’ll work for me then.In the meantime, I’ve started on two books…continuing with my new Henson collection, I’m reading The Storyteller now. If you’ve never seen this show, SEE IT. It’s…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch! So what have I been up to?WHAT I’M READING I finished Labyrinth, and quite liked it! If you’re a fan of the movie I’d recommend the book…the novel was comforting, like visiting an old childhood favourite. Plus, what really makes it worthwhile is the sketches and reproduction of Jim Henson’s personal notebook that’s included at the end. It’s really interesting stuff, =)I’ve now started Marcus Sedgwick’s Midwinterblood, which I got for Christmas. I’m not too far into it yet, but the concept intrigues me. Hopefully it will be good!…
