September Update: School, Work, and Writing!

It’s already September! The time is flying, and this month is certainly a busy one. After completing my awesome day at the Cambridge Comic Arts Festival, I enjoyed a bit of downtime at home before my oldest started his first year of school! Now, I’m getting ready to head back into the world of librarianship, while also working on a couple of awesome writing projects. Of course, I’ve been busy writing and editing the upcoming Oracle of Senders books. Keep an eye out for more information regarding book 2 in the series, Revenant, coming soon! And, if you like YA Contemporaries with family themes and fall settings, then definitely…

    Shadow Release Day!

I’m so excited to say that Shadow is now available! My second book with the awesome Orca Book Publishers released today!   About the book: Fourteen-year-old Preston Craft is organizing a film festival for his school’s film club. When one of the films goes missing two days before the festival begins, Preston is convinced it was stolen and is determined to get it back. The only indication of the theft is a suspicious shadow that Preston noticed right before he discovered the film was gone—but Preston is legally blind and no one quite believes him. However, not unlike the gritty private eyes in the classic black-and-white films he adores, Preston…

    Writing Wednesday

Welcome back to Writing Wednesday, a kind of regular post about what I’m up to writing-wise! ~ What I’m Writing ~ I just finished a major round of edits on a project, so while I’m waiting for the next step to begin (see below), I’m working on the synopsis and query. The query is in its middle stages, and I just finished the first draft of the synopsis a couple of days ago. These bits are so hard to write, so I’m doing my best to take my time with them! ~ What I’m Editing ~ I finished my last on-screen edits for my current major project! Now I’ve got…

    Short Story News!

Hey everyone! Today, I’m excited to share with you the news of an upcoming anthology featuring a story of mine! The anthology, Tales from the Lake, Vol. 3 is being published by Crystal Lake Publishing on September 30, and my story “Maybelle” will be included within its awesome pages. This, like my other short stories, is geared towards a more adult audience, and while my story isn’t really a horror tale, this is definitely a dark fiction anthology. If you want to check out more about Crystal Lake Publishing, you can visit their website, or sign-up for their newsletter (and get a free copy of their first anthology eBook!) I…

    Writing Wednesday

Welcome to Writing Wednesday, a kind of regular post about what I’m up to writing-wise! ~ What I’m Writing ~ I just finished the first draft of a rewrite for a story I started back before my toddler was born! I wrote the original story in the month before I had my baby, and then I left the story alone for over a year while I focused on my little boy and some other writing projects. At the start of this year, I took a look at the story again, and began a rewrite. There’s definitely still a fair bit of work to do on this project, but I’m treating…

    Writing Wednesday

Welcome to Writing Wednesday, a kind of regular post about what I’m up to writing-wise! ~ What I’m Writing ~ A couple of weeks ago I finished my unofficial NaNoWriMo project’s first draft. It’s not a full novel, but it was still great to see it come together and be completed. I’m definitely in editing mode at the moment, so I have no plans to write anything new for the next little while. However, if you know me as a writer, you know my plans can change very quickly! ~ What I’m Editing ~ I just finished going over the NaNoWriMo project’s first edit sweep. I always do this as…

    Celebrate the Small Things

Hosted by Lexa Cain, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life! This week, I’m celebrating: Fun writing – I’m working on an unofficial NaNoWriMo project this month (unofficial as it’s a short novella-esque creation aiming to be well below 50,000 words!), and this week I’ve figured out a major plot point and have headed into the second half of the first draft. It’s a fun story to write, and knowing where the plot is headed makes it even more enjoyable to work on. Candles – I like candles but don’t usually buy a ton of them, so it was out of…
