J is for Jabberwocky (and Celebrate the Small Things)

J is for Jabberwocky, a celebration!

Hosted by Viklit, this is a great weekly chance to talk about the small things worth celebrating in life!

So this week I’m combining the two, and celebrating a writerly thing (that starts with the letter J!)

For my J day, I’ve chosen to celebrate the “Jabberwocky” poem by Lewis Carroll. Why? Because. I love Through the Looking Glass, and what Alice Found There, and after we moved I found my reading copy of the book (yes, I have a reading copy and a fancy copy!), and I pulled it out so my husband can read it (along with Wonderland). Anyways, it was sitting on the kitchen table, and one morning I opened it at random and landed on “Jabberwocky”. I read it, and as always, I just started to smile.

I’m celebrating those amazing pieces of writing that awe us, and inspire us in our own endeavors, whether what we read has anything to do with what we write. After all, it’s all connected, because those things we love to read are part of what make us love to write. And that’s totally worth celebrating!

What are you celebrating this week?

A great poem and a great J word to celebrate! I always get a kick out of reading that perfectly grammatical, but nonsensical poem.

Love Jabberwocky! Memorized it a long time ago. Makes me smile. I, too, am a librarian. I work in Washington for the Timberland Regional Library. Awesome career, eh?
I'm stopping by to say hello as I mosey along on the A-Z blog hop!
