Writing Wednesday

Welcome to Writing Wednesday, a kind of regular post about what I’m up to writing-wise!

~ What I’m Writing ~

I just finished the first draft of a rewrite for a story I started back before my toddler was born! I wrote the original story in the month before I had my baby, and then I left the story alone for over a year while I focused on my little boy and some other writing projects. At the start of this year, I took a look at the story again, and began a rewrite.

There’s definitely still a fair bit of work to do on this project, but I’m treating this rewrite as a first draft, so as far as a first draft goes, it’s pretty decent. The plot is where I want it to be, and so is the voice. I just need to work through all the little bits and pieces that will (hopefully) bring everything together!

~ What I’m Editing ~

Nothing! I’ve got two stories in querying stages right now, plus the draft I just finished writing. I’ll get around to editing that draft probably sooner rather than later, but at the moment I’m taking a break from the story.

~ What I’m Researching ~

Recently, I’ve been researching music, certain 80s movies, and Ontario art galleries!

~ What I’m Planning ~

As I mentioned above, I’ll be back to edits soon. I also have a new story idea, but I’m actually trying to keep it locked away until November, as I think it would make a perfect NaNoWriMo project! We’ll see how successful I am at not writing it until then, =P

That’s the recap for this week. Let me know in the comments what you’ve been up to in your writing lately!

Babies don’t like to be put on hold while we write. Enjoy every minute with him, and hopefully you can squeeze your writing in between.
