2012 Wrap-up/2013 Resolutions!

It’s New Years Eve! Nothing exciting planned here, we’re not really New Years people (we’ll probably be asleep by 11, =3)…but I thought I’d so a wrap-up summary of my 2012 reading, and mention some of my 2013 resolutions!

* In 2012, I read/listened to a total of 70 books.

* 1 was a re-read (J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, audiobook)

* 50 of these were traditionally read

* 20 were listened to as audiobooks

* 6 of the read books were graphic novels

* My heaviest reading month was October

* My lightest month was May

Out of the books I read this year, my top ten favourites were (in no particular order):

Gone – Michael Grant
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (series) – Ann Brashares
The Bride’s Farewell – Meg Rosoff
The Woman in Black – Susan Hill
Brideshead Revisited – Evelyn Waugh
Anna and the French Kiss – Stephanie Perkins
Coraline – Neil Gaiman
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
The Graveyard Book – Neil Gaiman
Rosemary’s Baby – Ira Levin

I read a variety of books this year, and tried to expand my reading habits (particularly with some of the graphic novels). I didn’t read a whole bunch of new stuff, apparently, =P, but that’s alright.

For 2013, I’ve decided that I’m going to slow it down, and try to spend more time reading longer books…I don’t like long books, but there are a bunch that I would like to read, and haven’t because of the length. So I’m going to attempt to read a few of these this year! I am pretty happy with my MG/YA/Adult split (I don’t count the picture books I’ve read on here), so that’ll probably continue more or less as it is. I’ve already got a huge list of Christmas books to read now, so I’m all set for awhile!

On the writing front, my 2013 goal is the same as my 2012 goal…do whatever I can to get myself on the road to becoming not just a writer, but an author. Whether that means writing, editing, reading, querying, revising, networking, contest-ing, supporting, chatting, or (probably) a mixture of all of these. I love writing, and I love being a part of the writing community. I’m very happy to stay here!

So how about you? What was your favourite book read in 2012? What book are you looking forward to reading most in 2013 (either something to be released, or something in your to-be-read pile)? What are your reading/writing resolutions?

    I liked your goals and how you worded them. Thats pretty much the same thing mine are. 🙂

    Some of my favorite books I read this year were Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Shatter Me, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Warm Bodies, City of Lost Souls and The Raven Boys.

    My most anticipated book of 2013 is definitely Clockwork Princess!!

    I really want to read The Raven Boys, and I know I should read the Cassandra Clare books, too! And I've recently become intrigued by Perks of Being a Wallflower…so I'll have to check those ones out!
