What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch!

So what have I been up to?

WHAT I’M READING

I finished Labyrinth, and quite liked it! If you’re a fan of the movie I’d recommend the book…the novel was comforting, like visiting an old childhood favourite. Plus, what really makes it worthwhile is the sketches and reproduction of Jim Henson’s personal notebook that’s included at the end. It’s really interesting stuff, =)

I’ve now started Marcus Sedgwick’s Midwinterblood, which I got for Christmas. I’m not too far into it yet, but the concept intrigues me. Hopefully it will be good!

WHAT I’M WRITING + WRITING GOAL

I made it to 28,500 words, so a bit short of my 30k goal, but that’s alright. I went back and made notes on the things I know need to change/add, so it was still a productive week. And I’ll keep the same goal for this week…trying to get up to the 30k mark.

WHAT WORKS FOR ME
Evening writing sessions. It’s nice to snuggle up in bed with the laptop and get some writing done. There’s something quite cozy about writing like that, so even though I don’t always get the opportunity to do it, I appreciate when I can.

WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO

Baby boy got shots on Monday, so it’s been a rough couple of days for him. He seems in better spirits this morning, however, which is good. Other than that, it’s been pretty quiet around here, =).

That’s been my week. What have you been up to?

Hope the shots go well. Lots of cuddles afterwards 🙂

    I'm sure you'll hit 30k this week 😀

At least you got close to your goal! 28,500 words is still a big number. 🙂
  3. Snuggling up with a laptop sounds nice. And yay for 28,500! That's better than nothing!
  4. Keep on going! You'll reach 30k soon. Glad to hear evening writing sessions are working for you. I tend to write in the evenings as well.

    My What's up Wednesday post.

Evening writing sounds good…I'm going to try that. Maybe it works better. Now, you have me convinced I have to get Labyrinth this next week.

I still can't get over the fact that there's a LABYRINTH novel. So crazy awesome!
Yay for writing words of any kind, that's what I say! And those little notes you're making are going to be so, so helpful in revisions. Sounds like you had a productive week. 🙂 Hope you have a great week all around! 😀

I also like to snuggle with my laptop. 🙂

I spotted the Labyrinth novel during my trip to the bookstore, last week. ^^ Couldn't remember where I'd heard of its existence — I'm guessing it was you!

What's new for me? More of the usual. Prepping my next Wilderhark Tale for publication (you may have heard ;D ), jumping for joy upon learning that my latest short story has been accepted into an anthology coming in May, doting on my baby nephew… Oh, and I've spent the last couple weeks trying to acclimate to living at night, sleeping during the day. I can't tell yet whether it's better, worse, or just different that doing things the other way around. Still looking for more hours in which to get some writing done!
