What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch!

So what have I been up to?

I started listening to Landline by Rainbow Rowell finally, but I haven’t got very far into it yet. So far, however, it’s perfectly enjoyable!

I finished my manuscript! It did end up being a bit shorter than my original goal, and in all honesty I probably could have fleshed out the draft some more on this first go if I’d really wanted. However, I figured getting it done would be more beneficial at this point, and now I can let it sit. If I get any pressing realizations about something, I’ll make note of it, or quickly add it in if I can. But pretty much I’m tucking it away for a while before I visit it again for the first round of edits/additions!

(Wrote this before I changed the header, so it’s technically still leftover from What Inspires Me for this week!)

This morning is wonderfully foggy out, which I love. Not sure if that’s inspiring anything specific in me at the moment, but it definitely puts me in a reading/writing mood.

Things are still staying about the same on the baby front! Had another appointment yesterday, and discovered that he’d gone through a bit of a growth spurt, which is really good. He’s still small, and they are still going to induce me early, but he gained *just* enough weight that they’re scheduling another appointment/ultrasound next week before setting a date (which is less than good…we were told this week we’d set a date, even if that date was a little while away. Since appointments are always a 4-5 hour ordeal, we were really hoping not to have another one so quickly!)

So, it’s back to deep cleaning/rearranging the house! Something that has really bothered me since moving a few months back has been the fact that we only have books in one room in the entire house (the office). So, we’re finally going to get a proper bookcase for downstairs, to set up some of our pretty books as decoration. And of course, that quite excites me!

That’s been my week. What have you been up to?

Congrats on finishing your manuscript! I think tucking a WiP away and returning to it later is such a great thing to do. Returning to a WiP with fresh eyes is the best! Like you, grey or foggy weather inspires me to get reading and/or writing. I'm so affected/inspired by the weather. Hope you have a great week, Mere!

Yay to finishing the manuscript and tucking it away. I'm sure you can flesh it out during the edits. Things always look so different then.
Those doctor visits can get irritating, but it's great that he gained weight. Mine were all over-due. So I spent the last weeks going to the doctor every 2-3 days. I thought about just moving in 😉

I love foggy weather. It always makes me want to write a good horror story. And congrats on finishing the MS! Woo hoo!

Glad to hear the baby's gained some weight.

    Have a great week!

Sounds like you're nesting! Good luck with the baby. I never had doctor visits but with my first I had an ultrasound and then they sent me straight to the hospital to be induced early because the amniotic fluid was low. It was a long process but everything turned out well- of course, my daughter is almost eleven now! 🙂

Nicely done on finishing your manuscript! That's such a great feeling! I'm sure lots of inspiration for revisions will build up while it's tucked away for a while.

Glad to hear baby's had a bit of a growth spurt. I hope all continues to go well leading up to his arrival and that there won't be too many more long appointments. That's definitely draining, especially when you know big changes are on the horizon!

I can see why you'd find fog inspiring. It's so atmospheric! Have fun picking out a new bookcase to fill up and enjoy this break from your WIP! 🙂
