What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch!

So what have I been up to?

Finished my latest Sherlock collection, and have started reading A Death-Struck Year by Makiia Lucier. This was kind of a random choice for me, and while I can’t speak to the accuracy of the historical events, I will say that so far I’m really enjoying it. The writing is quite nice, and I think the feelings of confusion and confused-fear the characters are going through are quite genuine.

My new inspiration has still been blossoming, so I’ve done a vague outline to capture the scenes I don’t want to forget, and have started thinking/writing up some character sketches. I have not, however, done any editing for the last week (eek!) so I think I’m going to have to force myself to get back into that soon.

The thought of a week off! Next week is vacation, and I’m very much looking forward to just having some time to relax, read, and write. I’m really hoping the days will be productive, at least somewhat =)

Was up visiting family again on the weekend for my nephew’s fourth birthday party. It’s crazy how quickly kids grow up…he’s starting school in September, and that is just an insane thought!
So what have you been up to?

A Death-Struck Year sounds like an interesting read – thanks for sharing! 🙂

Good luck with your new inspiration and enjoy your week off!

I just added A DEATH-STRUCK YEAR to my TBR pile. It sounds really good! And like nothing I've read yet, so bonus! That's a smart idea to jot down notes on scenes you don't want to forget. Seems like a good way to combat the temptation to dive right in, while still ensuring you don't lose all that inspiration. Does that make sense? Have tons of fun on vacation! 😀

Ah, the little ones do grow so fast. My kiddo is about to celebrate his 7th birthday, and he starts second grade next month! Seems like he was just a baby, but he constantly reminds me he's a "big guy." 🙂

Have a great vacation and enjoy your week!
