Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch!
So what have I been up to?
WHAT I’M READING
I finished To Kill A Mockingbird. I think I would sum up this story as lovely. It covers serious subjects, and has several dark scenes, but there is such sweetness to it, and already as I think back on it, I just want to give a happy sigh. Just…lovely.
I’ve now started Meg Rosoff’s Just In Case. Rosoff writes some odd stories, but I just love her writing, and this is the only novel of hers I haven’t read yet.
I finished the first draft of the short story I was working on last week. I also adapted an old short story of mine, changing it into a story in a totally different genre. It required a lot of research, which was a lot of fun!
This week, my goal is to edit both of these short stories.
WHAT WORKS FOR ME
WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO
I’ve been taking Finn to a baby program at the library, and it ended this week. I’m not sure if I’ll join again in the spring, but it was good for us to get out of the house once a week this last while.
That’s been my week. What have you been up to?

I was really good about taking my first kid to library story time… Not so much the second one. Good fun, though!

There really is something about TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, isn't there? I don't think it would have felt the same had Scout not been the POV character. I think that, in particular, gives it a good deal of it's loveliness. Congrats on finishing up the first draft of your short story! I'm with you on research being fun. I could lose myself for days down the research rabbit hole. Hope you have a wonderful week, Mere! 😀

I've never read Rosoff's JUST IN CASE, but I loved her HOW I LIVE NOW so much that I'm off to read the blurb on it now!
Congrats on finishing your short story draft!
