What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch!

So what have I been up to?

WHAT I’M READING

I finished His Last Bow. I now only have one Sherlock collection left to read…it’s on my shelf already, but I’m trying really hard not to start it for a while. I don’t know what I’ll do when I finish it, I love these stories so much!

I’ve slowed on The Storyteller, which is fine. The beauty of short stories is that you can pause between chapters with no problem. I’ve also started reading my book for Freedom to Read week, which is coming soon! I’ll talk more about that on the actual week, =)

WHAT I’M WRITING + WRITING GOAL

Finished my first draft! I’m now going over the story again, which I always do right away just to make sure the story reads like, you know, an actual story. It’s going pretty well so far…I’ve identified a few problem areas, so after this read-through I’ll be able to spend some time brainstorming how to best address those issues.

WHAT WORKS FOR ME
This week I’m going to again say that using the comments section is working really well for me. During this read-through, it’s so easy to quickly mark areas I know I’ll need to work on later. It’s great!

WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO

My husband has a few days off this month, so we’ve started a new house project…the floor in our office was just painted subfloor that looked awful. So we’ve started laying some new floors. It’s just laminate, but it looks amazing compared to what was there before!

That’s been my week. What have you been up to?

Hope the read through continues smoothly ^_^ Have a great week!
  2. Ooh! Salivating over this mystery book. =)

Whew! The idea of a house project…it makes me tired. I guess that's what comes of late pregnancy. Is it nap time yet? 😉

Congrats on finishing your draft! I do the same thing with reading through to catch problem areas. Really gives you an idea how the thing flows with transitions and the like, allows you to catch plot holes, etc. Hope that continues to go well. Have fun with your new floors too! Sounds great. 😀
  4. Ooh, good luck with your floor redo! I bet it'll look fabulous when you're done. Also, congrats on finishing your first draft! What a fantastic accomplishment!
  5. I didn't start utilizing the comments section while I wrote until recently either. They're so helpful! Congrats on finishing the first draft!

Congrats on finishing your first draft! I find the comments section really helpful, too.
  7. Congrats on finishing your first draft! It's such a great feeling! I read thru right after I'm done a first draft too, to line edit and see if it all works, and it's a good way to find initial problems.
    Have a great week!

  9. Congrats on finishing your first draft! I love that feeling.

And I've been spending the last month redoing floors, so I feel you on that one. 😉

Hope you have a fantastic week!
