What’s Up Wednesday

Hosted by Jaime Morrow and Erin L. Funk, this is a great way for writers to get together and keep in touch!

So what have I been up to?

WHAT I’M READING

Same as last week, The Storyteller and His Last Bow. Enjoying both!

WHAT I’M WRITING + WRITING GOAL

I’m almost finished the first draft of this WIP! It’s still short for a YA novel, but I had a great week of writing and I have at least managed to get it up to “novel” length. Hopefully when I edit, I’ll still be able to add some more.

Writing goal for this week is to finish the first draft!

WHAT WORKS FOR ME

Using the comments section while I write. I don’t know why I’ve never done this before, but it’s a far easier way to make notes. Usually I just put notes in the manuscript itself, using a different colour, or I make a separate document and compile all my notes there. But using the comments feature is great for easily adding (and deleting) notes!

WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO

Quiet week around here…lots of snow, reading, and spending time indoors, =)

That’s been my week. What have you been up to?

Good luck finishing your draft this week! 😀 And stay warm in the chilly weather.

Lots of snow here in Alberta too. Bleh. So ready for spring to roll in, but I'm not delusional enough to think that will happen anytime soon lol. Yay for almost finishing up your first draft! I'm sure you'll be able to bulk it up no problem in revisions. Just getting that thing out into draft form is huge in and of itself. Hope this is an awesome week for you, Mere! 😀

I think Saskatchewan is one of the only places in Canada that didn't get dumped on with snow this week. Not that I'm complaining!

That's a great tip about using the comments section for notes. I draft in Scrivener, but for whatever reason, I like to do some revisions and my edits in Word, so I'll have to keep that in mind.

Good luck finishing up your draft this week! 🙂

  4. I've never used the comments section- I usually just put my notes in random places with stars, or at the beginning of the MS of things I know I need to fix once the first draft is over.
Good luck finishing the draft and have fun!
